Our Philosophy

Contemporary Design Meets Italian Craftsmanship

For over 30 years, Ziad El-Achi has combined contemporary design with the tradition of the finest bespoke tailoring in his atelier. Founded in 1995 in Düsseldorf, he has refined his craft around the world and served international clients in cities such as London, Paris, Beirut, and the Gulf States. This knowledge, grown over decades, forms today the foundation of a consultation that perfectly harmonises style, material, and colour with the wearer.

A bespoke suit is only as good as its origin – decisive are the selection of the noblest fabrics and their construction by master hand. That is why the atelier relies exclusively on the highest-quality weaves from Italy and England. Together with the client, the material that ideally unites appearance, feel, and functionality is chosen from over 5,000 fabrics.

Measurements, cuts, and fittings take place in the Zurich atelier or directly on-site with the client. Construction is carried out by experienced tailors in Naples – the stronghold of Italian menswear. The legendary Neapolitan workmanship ensures incomparable wearing comfort, a perfect fit, and timeless elegance.

Every piece from the Ziad El-Achi atelier is a handcrafted one-of-a-kind – created to meet the highest standards of quality, style, and individuality.

30 Years of Perfection

1986 – Arrival in Germany: Flight, New Beginning, and First Triumph

In 1986, civil war shook Lebanon – making life in Beirut a daily balancing act. For the El Achi family came the moment of a fateful decision: to leave their beloved homeland behind. With only a few suitcases, but full of memories and carried by the hope of safety, they began a new chapter in Germany.

For young Ziad, it was an abrupt farewell to childhood and familiar streets – and at the same time the beginning of a formative journey. In a classroom surrounded by a foreign language, he unfolded his unyielding will. He listened, learned, fought – until he not only mastered the language but also found a new identity. The Abitur became a symbol: triumph over uprooting, discipline, and perseverance.

First Steps as a Bespoke Tailor – From the Laboratory to the Atelier and to the Front

At first he chose the safe path: an apprenticeship in chemistry, then studies in chemistry and engineering. A summer internship at a fashion company, however, opened a new door – and made clear where his heart truly lay. After a year of inner struggle, he abandoned his studies. At 23 he began: bought suits and shirts, resold them, and offered home visits – the press quickly took notice.

The next step soon followed: made-to-measure, at that time barely known in Germany. Resistance from textile companies did not discourage him. He worked with small manufactories, learned the craft in Düsseldorf alongside two masters – and recognised that his strength lay in direct dialogue with the client. And so a loyal, discerning clientele was born.

1997–2006 – Atelier Founded, Media Presence, and the Italian School of Elegance

In 1997 he opened his first atelier. Demand grew, with many gentlemen seeking guidance beyond the dominant designer brands. Television appearances, radio interviews, and articles in Die Welt, FAZ, Manager Magazin, and Rheinische Post made his name known far beyond Düsseldorf.

The search for the origins of elegance led to Naples, into the heart of bespoke tailoring. There he learned from masters that a bespoke suit is a quiet dialogue between tailor and wearer – an expression of bearing, identity, and dignity.
In 2000 he opened his own atelier in Beirut; diplomats, entrepreneurs, and artists placed their trust in him. In 2006 the war in Lebanon forced him to let this dream rest.

2006–2009 – Germany as a Firm Base: Depth, Reliability, and Maturation

Back in Düsseldorf, Ziad found a firm foundation. Here he carried on his work undeterred – uncompromising in quality, service, and individuality. The principles learned in Naples now clearly shaped his style: softer constructions, precise proportions, elegant restraint. He deepened his cooperation with small workshops, sharpened his processes, and refined his consultation approach: listening, grasping the lifestyle, uniting form and fabric into a coherent statement. Re-fittings and adjustments strengthened trust – commissions became relationships.

The years passed more quietly than the early media era, yet they were formative: his style matured, his signature took on a clearer profile. This laid the foundation for the next step – his own atelier for an international clientele.

2009–Today – Zurich, International Clientele, and the Present

In 2009 Ziad found his final home in Zurich. Here he combines the lightness of the Neapolitan tradition with Swiss consistency and the standards of an international clientele. His atelier became more than a workshop – a place of encounter where men not only receive clothing but rediscover their personality in fabric and cut.

Over time, his role grew far beyond that of a tailor: Ziad became a companion, advisor, and designer. Every seam told of departure and courage, of loss and new beginnings. So the boy who once fled from Beirut became a master of his craft. Today he gives men in Europe and far beyond a timeless language of elegance – quiet, enduring, and made by hand.
